Fox News host Laura Ingraham revealed why Tom Hanks wants to take swipes at the Trump administration.
Tom Hanks sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and made a not-so-subtle dig at President Trump. He said he would not show his new movie “The Post” at the White House.
THR: If Donald Trump wanted you to screen this movie at the White House, would you go?
Hanks: That’s an interesting question. I don’t think I would. Because I think that at some point — look, I didn’t think things were going to be this way last November. I would not have been able to imagine that we would be living in a country where neo-Nazis are doing torchlight parades in Charlottesville [Va.] and jokes about Pocahontas are being made in front of the Navajo code talkers. And individually we have to decide when we take to the ramparts. You don’t take to the ramparts necessarily right away, but you do have to start weighing things. You may think: “You know what? I think now is the time.” This is the moment where, in some ways, our personal choices are going to have to reflect our opinions. We have to start voting, actually, before the election. So, I would probably vote not to go.
Ingraham, however, has a different take on why Tom Hanks decided to go after Trump. He’s doing it for the sake of publicity.
Ingraham said that Hanks was a very celebrated actor “who has given us so many iconic moments on the screen. However, he might be overreaching by talking about politics.
Imagine a world, Hanks explained, where the president treats papers like The Washington Post as purveyors of fake news. Hey Gump, maybe he treats them that way because half the time they are.
“The Post” is about The Washington Post‘s work during the Nixon administration. In particular, how they reported on the top secret Pentagon Papers. Throughout the interview, Hanks drew comparisons between the Nixon and Trump administration.
Ah, Hollywood. We all know what a morality mecca it is.
