President Trump has had a presidency that is far from traditional. The media typically cites Trump’s Twitter account to point this out.
In an interview with FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump touched on his use of the social media platform. The interview aired this morning on Fox News.
Trump called his tweets “well crafted” and said that he is a “good student”.
From the interview:
I’m like a person that does well with that kind of thing.
The president also said that Twitter serves to combat the spin from other media outlets. Trump believes he wouldn’t be holding the highest office in the land without his Twitter account.
Any time the media tried to sabotage his character, Trump was able to fight back right away by tweeting. Almost one year into his presidency, President Trump still uses this technique.
Trump likes Twitter because he believes it keeps the public interested. By releasing commentary on events and people, he gets the conversation going. It keeps people aware of the issues at hand, for better or for worse.
You have to keep people interested. But without social media, I’m not sure that I would be here talking.
According to recent polls, 69% of the American public believes President Trump should stop tweeting. However, he revealed in an interview with Fox News that he plans to use social media for the remainder of his term.
Recently, former president Jimmy Carter said he believed the media was too harsh on the president. Perhaps this interview shows that Trump has unconventional, yet effective leadership methods.
Maria Bartiromo did a great job interviewing the president. Hopefully, Trump will give more interviews that show his thought process behind leading the free world.
